Privacy Policy

Glyphy is built with privacy as the foundation. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app stores, what it sends over the network and why, and your rights.

The short version: Glyphy has no accounts and no ads, and never sells data. What you type, your themes, shortcuts, wallpapers and widget settings stay on your iPhone. To measure which TikTok ads bring new users, Glyphy uses the TikTok Business SDK, and only shares advertising data if you allow tracking when iOS asks. The app works exactly the same if you say no.

1. Data we collect

Glyphy does not collect personal information. There are no user accounts, sign-up forms or logins. We do not record your keystrokes or your conversations. The only measurement in the app is the TikTok ad measurement described in section 4, which requires your permission.

2. Data stored on your device

The following stays on your iPhone, in the app and in the App Group shared with the keyboard and the widget:

Keyboard: active theme, custom themes, fonts, shortcuts, recent emojis and preferences
Studio: your wallpaper creations, quote customizations, favorites, icon sets and photos you pick for your own backgrounds
Widgets: widget style, photos and the quotes to display
Daily quote: your notification time and theme
Encryption keys: private keys for confidential messages, stored in the iOS Keychain; they never leave your device

We have no access to this data. Deleting the app removes it.

3. Permissions Glyphy may request

Full Access (keyboard): required by iOS for keyboard tools that use the clipboard, location or the network. Glyphy never uses it to read or send your keystrokes.
Location (optional): only when you use the Location tool. Coordinates go to Apple's geocoding service to get an address, shown only to you.
Photos, add only (optional): to save the wallpapers and icons you create to your library. Glyphy cannot read your library with this permission. Photos you pick for a background are chosen by you in the iOS photo picker.
Camera (optional): only to photograph your handwriting and turn it into a font. The photo is processed on your device.
Notifications (optional): for the daily quote. They are scheduled on your device.
Tracking (optional): iOS asks whether Glyphy may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you allow it, the TikTok Business SDK can use your device's advertising identifier to tell which ad brought you to Glyphy. You can change this anytime in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

4. Network requests

Glyphy connects to the internet only in these situations:

Wallpaper photos: the Studio loads photos from Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash. Your search words and your device's IP address are sent to these services, as with any image loaded from the web.
Quote updates: the app may download the latest quote list from our server (glyphy.hknet.fr). No personal data is sent with this request.
Confidential messages: to pair with a contact, the keyboard registers a random Glyphy ID, a public key and, if you choose to set one, a display name on our relay server (glyphy.hknet.fr), so your contacts can recognize you. The server stores only these IDs, display names, public keys, contact links and short-lived pairing codes. Message content is end-to-end encrypted, travels through your own messaging app and never passes through our server.
GIFs and stickers: when you search GIFs in the keyboard, your search words are sent to GIPHY.
AI wallpapers: when you generate a wallpaper, your description is sent to Pollinations to create the image.
Link shortener: when you shorten a link, that link is sent to is.gd.
AI tools (optional): only if you add your own Anthropic or OpenAI API key, the text you submit to an AI tool is sent to that provider with your key.
TikTok ad measurement: the app sends TikTok app events (install, app open, onboarding completed, subscriptions and purchases) through the TikTok Business SDK. Without your tracking permission these events are not sent with your advertising identifier; Apple's SKAdNetwork then only reports anonymous, aggregated install data to TikTok.
Subscriptions: Apple's StoreKit checks your purchases directly with Apple. We never see your Apple ID or payment details.

The translator and the other keyboard tools work on your device. Like any web server, our server may keep standard technical logs (such as IP address) for security, never used to identify or track you.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Glyphy offers Premium as a weekly or yearly subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase, through Apple. All payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your payment information, Apple ID, email or name.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel them anytime in Settings › your name › Subscriptions on your iPhone.

6. Children's privacy

Glyphy is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Third-party services

Apple (StoreKit, geocoding, on-device translation), governed by Apple's Privacy Policy
TikTok (TikTok Business SDK) for ad measurement, governed by TikTok's Privacy Policy
Pexels, Pixabay and Unsplash for wallpaper photos, governed by their own privacy policies
GIPHY for GIF search, Pollinations for AI wallpapers and is.gd for link shortening, only when you use these features
Anthropic or OpenAI, only if you add your own API key for the AI tools

Apart from the TikTok Business SDK (ad measurement, only with your permission), Glyphy embeds no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDK.

8. Your rights

Under the GDPR, the CCPA and similar laws, you can ask to access, correct or delete data about you, or object to its processing. Since nearly everything stays on your device, deleting the app removes it. To delete your confidential-messaging ID and display name from our relay server, or for any other request, write to contact@glyphyapp.com.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and publish the new version on this page. Material changes will be announced in the app.
